Phooey

Monday found me. It always does. I tried to greet it with a smile.

I had a good day, even though it was a Monday. I had a good day at Mrs. Leigh Ann's. I got to eat more of those sweet potato things for lunch! Aunt Mere picked me up and I went to Grandmom and Granddad's house to play while Mom was at little work. After Mom came and got me, we came home and got ready for bed. Typical Monday schedule.

I am off to bed now. I'm ready to see what will happen on Tuesday!

Big News!!

This was a pretty major day! Mom and I got up and played for a while. I took a nap while Mom got ready. Then I got ready, too.

It was cooler outside again today, so it was back to long sleeves and socks for me. Oh well...

After my bath and getting dressed, we were off to Grandmom and Granddad's!

Grandmom and Granddad were in the yard when we got there. Grandmom said that Granddad was cooking lunch. Outside?? I had never heard of this. Apparently, when it's not so cold, people like to cook in the yard on something called a grill. Very peculiar. The people with lots of teeth ate lunch. Then something different happened. I had lunch too!! What?!? I got to eat something called a "vegetable". These vegetables were called "sweet potatoes".

I made this funny face, but I really liked them!!

I really enjoyed my lunch and I hope it is something that will continue! After lunch, I took a long nap. When I woke up, I wanted to play. Colin was in the floor, so I went over to see what he was doing.

He was playing something called a "Nintendo". I wanted to play too. He talked to me and let me look at what he was doing. :)

When Aunt Mere, Colin, and Brenna left (Uncle Corey had gone home already to watch Duke play basketball), I waved goodbye to them. Apparently, this was a huge deal, because everyone kept saying how smart I am and what a good girl I am. I thought I was just being nice....

After I played for a while, Mom and I came home. I needed a nap, so I had some juice and went to sleep. While I was sleeping, it magically became the season called "Spring". Mom said that even though it hadn't really felt like "Winter" lately, the season didn't officially change until tonight. Some science stuff. Anyway, when I woke up, something else was strange about my day. When I woke up, I was way down low and I couldn't see out over the top of my downstairs bed. Apparently, Mom moved it down because she said I was getting too adventurous. Hrm.

Once I was freed, Mom put my jammies on and let me play. I think I've figured out how to sit up like the bigger people do! Check me out!

After I played, I had some dinner and played some more. I'll be going to bed soon. My weekend went by so fast! Mom says we still have something called "Spring Break" to look forward to, but I'm not sure what that means yet...

Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

What a busy day! I would like an extra Saturday, please!!!

Mom and I woke up early. I was ready to play and she needed to get her cakes done. I played happily in my big toy for a while so she could work. I called her after a little bit and she came and gave me a snack. After that, I took a nap. She kept working. I woke up and played some more while she was still working. After she finished, I watched Sesame Street while she got clean. Then I took a bath and got dressed.

After my bath, Mrs. Amber and Larsen came to get Larsen's birthday cake. She had a princess cake. She liked it. I talked to her and Mrs. Amber for a little while. Then I had a snack and a nap.

When I woke up from my nap, I was at a party!! It was very confusing!! I went to sleep at home with Mom and woke up somewhere new with a lot of people!! Mom and I went to a party for Aunt Krystle and my new friend that hasn't made it to the outside yet. He'll be here soon...in the month called May, I think. I had a good time at the party! I liked playing with all the ladies!

After the party, we went to Grandmom and Granddad's. We had to do our laundry because our washing machine is sick. Granddad was sitting outside on the deck, so Mom put out our big outside blanket and let me play outside since it was a very nice day. We went to dinner with Grandmom and Granddad too. They had dinner. I had piggies...

That is the only picture of me today. As you can tell, we were very, very busy all day long. I'm going to bed now. I'm very tired. I wonder who I should talk to about getting that extra Saturday....

The Field Trip

Finally Friday! Hooray!!! I was ready to get it started so I could get home and get my weekend going!! It was going to be a very warm day, so Mom let me wear short sleeves. Aunt Mere got this shirt for me. :)

I had a great day at Mrs. Leigh Ann's. We even went on a field trip to the park! A park is a place where you can play that is not your back yard. Mrs. Leigh Ann let me sit in the swing!

And I chilled in my seat. :) Mrs. Leigh Ann sent these pictures to Mom while she was a big work. Mom said she was a little sad when she got them, because she was trapped inside with other people's children on this beautiful day. I had a great time, though.

Mom picked me up from Mrs. Leigh Ann's this afternoon. We had to stop by the WalMart store to get two boxes of cake mix. Then we came home. I had a snack and then I played in my big toy while Mom baked two cakes. When she was finished, she brought me something new. She said it was a "cup". She gave it to me to figure out. I knew it had apple juice in it. I could taste it. I just didn't know how to get it.

Apparently, you have to hold the cup way up high to get anything to come out. It was a lot of work. I wasn't very good at it. Mom said that it was okay, because I would learn. She said she didn't expect me to be able to use the cup right away, but she wanted me to start experiencing it. She tries to help me out. :)

I eventually gave up on the cup. I had a great time chewing on it, though!

I think it's about time for bed. I've got a busy morning tomorrow. Mom and I have cakes to decorate!! I'm so glad the weekend is here!!

The Day Called St. Patrick's Day

Hooray!! The Day Called St. Patrick's Day finally arrived!! The first thing I know about the day called Saint Patrick's Day is that you MUST wear green. If you don't wear green, people can pinch you! I had that covered. Look how snazzy I looked in my festive attire!!

This is what I have learned about why we have this named day. Saint Patrick was a real man who lived a very, very long time ago. His name was not Saint. That part was added later. Patrick was born in Britain, but he was kidnapped or something and taken to Ireland to work. After a while, he escaped and went back to Britain. Later, he had a dream or a vision or something that told him to go back to Ireland. He went back to Ireland to be a missionary. He told the people who were pagans (they believed in lots of things other than God) all about God. He was able to help the people in Ireland become Christians because he told the rich and powerful people first. Then the rich and powerful people helped Christianity spread to the other people. Patrick became the patron saint of Ireland. Legend says that Saint Patrick drove all of the snakes out of Ireland. (Not in a car...he just made them leave.) Actually, Ireland has never had snakes living there. This legend probably has something to do with those pagans, or "Druids", who used snakes as one of their symbols. Saint Patrick is believed to have died on March 17, which is why today was the day called Saint Patrick's Day.

There are lots of other things that have come to be associated with the day called Saint Patrick's Day. It has become a day to celebrate all things that are Irish. Shamrocks are popular symbols of the day. That is why my outfit was covered in them! My hairbow was even shaped like a shamrock!!

Leprechauns have also become a popular part of celebrations. Leprechauns are tiny little men who are always involved in some sort of shenanigans. Leprechauns can be nice or they can be mean. I prefer the nice ones. Like the one on Mom's box of Lucky Charms. He has marshmallows. :)

Pots of gold, rainbows, fun music, and girls who dance without moving their arms are also included in the celebrations. A popular phrase for the day is "Kiss Me, I'm Irish". I even have a shirt that says that! I never have any trouble getting people to do that. I'm very kissable. :)

Mom says that there are lots of other wonderful things about Ireland and Saint Patrick's Day. She said that she hopes that she will be able to take me to Ireland one day when I get older. She says that it is very beautiful there and that I would love it. She says that every year, when the day called Saint Patrick's Day comes around, she wishes that she could be in Dublin because it is so wonderful. Instead, she went to big work...

I had a wonderful day at Mrs. Leigh Ann's. I hung out at Grandmom and Granddad's after that while Mom got her hairs cut. I played with Colin. Brenna wasn't there because she is sick. I was sad that she missed the day called Saint Patrick's Day. I think she is feeling better now. Colin was telling me some confusing stuff about springs and something called "physics" because I was playing in my big toy. (I have a big toy at Grandmom and Granddad's house, too!) Colin is very smart. When I need to know stuff, I think I'll ask him.

Did you have a wonderful day called Saint Patrick's Day?? I hope so!!

She Needs Therapy

Mom is out of control with this day called St. Patrick's Day. She really loves it. It was obvious when I looked down this morning and was once again dressed in green...

The day called St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow. Mom says we're almost ready. I've been practicing my leprechaun faces...

I had a very long day today. I had a good day at Mrs. Leigh Ann's. I hung out at Grandmom and Granddad's while Mom was at little work. Mom finally came and picked me up. Then we went to see Krystle and Chris and Mrs. Marsha and Mr. David. Mrs. Marsha broke her foot four times! (Apparently, you can break yourself if you're not careful once you're really mobile.) I think I cheered her up a little bit. Especially when Krystle was holding me and my pants fell off. (I'm too skinny for my pants...) After we visited for a little while, we came home. After my very long day, Mom did this to me...

Are you kidding me??

Mom needs therapy. She is so silly. I actually thought my little hat was hilarious. I laughed and laughed, especially when Mom put it on her head. I'm very interested to see what the day called St. Patrick's Day will bring! And maybe just a little bit scared... :)

The Ides of March

Wow! I was so tired last night. I slept and slept. Mom even had me halfway dressed this morning before I woke up. Mondays make me tired!! I got over it though and got ready for my day!

Today was a named day called the "Ides of March". It sounded shady to me. Apparently, you're supposed to "Beware the Ides of March". What?? What's it gonna do? Jump on me?? I'm not generally afraid of Tuesdays. Mom told me it's an old, old story about a man named Julius Caesar. First of all, I think that's a silly name. According to the story, a bunch of other men got mad at Mr. Caesar about something. This fellow called a "soothsayer" (I think that is a very funny word, but I think it's like a fortune teller) told Mr. Caesar to "Beware the Ides of March". Turns out, he should have listened because those angry men got together and stabbed Mr. Caesar on that day. I'm not talking about stabbed like they do when I go to the doctor. I'm talking about stabbed like they seriously hurt him until he wasn't alive anymore. Eep!!!

Anyway, that's what's up with the Ides of March. Nobody stabbed me all day long. I had a great day. I played at Mrs. Leigh Ann's and then I hung out at Grandmom and Granddad's until Mom got out of big work. It was a normal, happy kind of day!

Side note for the day: I love to read. I think everybody should read. :)

If you read, you can learn about the Ides of March and soothsayers and things like that.

Or, as in this story, you can learn that turkeys are bad dressers. This particular book was Blue Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boynton. In the story, the turkey can't seem to wear his clothes correctly. It is quite comical. :)

I hope everyone was safe today on the Ides of March. Mom is getting excited because the day called St. Patrick's Day is almost here. I have nearly completed my research...
