Today is Aunt Mere's birthday!! Yay!! Happy Birthday, Aunt Mere! I'm glad you were born!
I didn't see Aunt Mere today, though. Mom and I stayed home all day. It was pretty boring, actually. I did boring things like eat, nap, bathe, watch tv, and play. Not a lot of excitement around here today.
In other news, today was also the anniversary of an American tragedy. It happened a long time before I was born. I've learned about it today. This morning I watched something called a "memorial service". Ten years ago, some mean and crazy people flew some airplanes into some very big buildings in New York City and Washington. They caused lots and lots of people to die. Three planes crashed into buildings. One more plane crashed into a field after some brave people stood up to the bad people and took control of that plane. Lots of policemen and firemen were hurt and killed trying to save the people in the buildings. They were able to fix the building in Washington. The buildings in New York City fell down. It was a very sad day in American history. Mom said that the bad bad man that had this idea to do this to America was killed by American soldiers just a few months ago. American Soldiers have been fighting and protecting our country from more attacks like this one. Today was a day for Americans to pause and reflect on the lives lost on that day 10 years ago and also to remember those lost fighting the bad men since then. It is also a day to remember those who continue to protect us.
Dressed in my red, white, and blue (on my hairbow) today, I am thankful to live in America. I am thankful for the brave people who keep me safe every day. And I am sorry for all of the people who were hurt or lost loved ones in this terrible tragedy. God bless America!
