Princesses and Tea

This morning, very early, I heard Mom rustling around. I tried to ignore her. Soon, she came in to get me. She was completely dressed and had dry hair and everything. Weird. She said it was time for me to come watch the wedding and get dressed. Oh right, that royal wedding thing. This is what I've learned about that:

Today, in the country called England, in a building called Westminster Abbey, a pretty lady named Catherine (or Kate) married a handsome young man named William. It just so happens that William is a prince. A real, live, gonna-be-a-king-someday prince. Mom says that she (along with a LOT of other people in America and around the world) were very interested in this wedding. She says that even though they are not from our country, the royal family of England is very interesting to us. Mom says that this wedding was particularly interesting because of William's mom. William's mom was a very beautiful princess named Diana and people all over the world loved her. Very tragically, the beautiful princess was in a car that got smashed and she was hurt very badly and died. Many people all over the world were sad. Anyway, her little boy got married today and it was a very big event. All of the people were wearing fancy clothes and the ladies were wearing fun hats!

I got to see the Catherine and William get married while I was getting ready for my day. I wore a fancy dress to celebrate the wedding. (Mom was extra bummed to have to leave for work because she missed some of the wedding stuff.)

We watched even more of the wedding and the other festivities at Mrs. Leigh Ann's. Then we had a tea party!! (Mom says that having tea is a very English thing to do.) I even wore my "fairytale princess" bib!

I tried to get my pinky up, but it was a little tricky.

Brenna was better at it! :)

It was a great day. Mom came and picked me up and brought me home. I took a nap and then I played. Mom talked to me some more about the royal wedding. First of all, she said that we don't have princes in America. Secondly, she said that there aren't very many princes in the whole world. She said that she was just telling me those things to remind me that most little girls don't grow up to be for real, gonna-be-a-queen-one-day princesses.

Then she said I would always be her princess. :)
