Wow! I was so tired last night. I slept and slept. Mom even had me halfway dressed this morning before I woke up. Mondays make me tired!! I got over it though and got ready for my day!
Today was a named day called the "Ides of March". It sounded shady to me. Apparently, you're supposed to "Beware the Ides of March". What?? What's it gonna do? Jump on me?? I'm not generally afraid of Tuesdays. Mom told me it's an old, old story about a man named Julius Caesar. First of all, I think that's a silly name. According to the story, a bunch of other men got mad at Mr. Caesar about something. This fellow called a "soothsayer" (I think that is a very funny word, but I think it's like a fortune teller) told Mr. Caesar to "Beware the Ides of March". Turns out, he should have listened because those angry men got together and stabbed Mr. Caesar on that day. I'm not talking about stabbed like they do when I go to the doctor. I'm talking about stabbed like they seriously hurt him until he wasn't alive anymore. Eep!!!
Anyway, that's what's up with the Ides of March. Nobody stabbed me all day long. I had a great day. I played at Mrs. Leigh Ann's and then I hung out at Grandmom and Granddad's until Mom got out of big work. It was a normal, happy kind of day!
Side note for the day: I love to read. I think everybody should read. :)
If you read, you can learn about the Ides of March and soothsayers and things like that.
Or, as in this story, you can learn that turkeys are bad dressers. This particular book was Blue Hat, Green Hat by Sandra Boynton. In the story, the turkey can't seem to wear his clothes correctly. It is quite comical. :)
I hope everyone was safe today on the Ides of March. Mom is getting excited because the day called St. Patrick's Day is almost here. I have nearly completed my research...
