The Meaning of "Snow Day"

First of all, you're supposed to sleep late on a snow day. So I slept all night, all the way to 8:00!!

Mom and I had breakfast and played. While I played with some of my toys, Mom made a hat for me. See it?

I watched Sesame Street while Mom got clean and dressed and then I got dressed, too. Mom put my hat, my scarf (she made that this morning, too), and my jacket on me. She put her warm stuff on too.

After we were all covered in our warm clothes, we went outside. Boy, did it look different out there! Everything was covered in fluffy white snow! This was WAY more snow than the Christmas snow!

I got down on the ground to check it out. The fluffy white snow was still falling out of the sky, too!

Mom put down a plastic bag and a blanket and my Bumbo for me to sit in. I liked that better than sitting on the ground. I could look around better.

This snow was super pretty. And there was lots of it!

I studied it carefully.

I took a minute to pose with Mom. She had snow in her hair. :)

It was really quite cold outside, so we only stayed for a few minutes. Mom said she didn't want me to get too cold. (I don't think she wanted to get too cold either!)

I had a snack and then took a nap while Mom made lunch. When I woke up, Mom was making something called "snow cream". If you are unaware of what this means, I can explain it to you. You go outside and get snow in a bowl. Mom says you have to be careful to get clean snow off the top so that you don't get dirt and other yucky stuff in your bowl too! After you have a bowl of snow, you put milk and sugar and something called vanilla in it and mix it all up and it turns into ice cream! Mom did all of this. Then she put some in a bowl for Sadie. Sadie licked it all up. Then she put some in a bowl for her. She got two spoons. She had a big spoon and a little spoon. Mom put me in my Bumbo and told me she was going to share!

I'd never eaten anything from a spoon before! I've seen the people with teeth do it before plenty of times. Mom put a little bit of the snow cream on the little spoon and held it out for me.

I tasted it. It was SO yummy! I took the spoon away from Mom.

She let me have another bite. She said I couldn't have too much because it might hurt my tummy.

I didn't feel hurt. I felt great! I licked every bit of that snow cream off of my spoon!!

Mom said I couldn't have more though. That was ok. I understood. She was just trying to keep me from feeling bad.

I took an extra long nap this afternoon. I was all snuggled up on Mom's lap. After my nap, I played and watched the Backyardigans. I took a bath and put my jammies on and now it's time for bed.

It was a great day! I got to spend the whole day with Mom. She said she had such a great day with me. I also have great news! We have another snow day tomorrow!! Because it snowed so much and now there's something going on about ice, Mom doesn't have to go to big work again tomorrow!! Woohoo!!!! :)
